WEB TRAFFIC PART 5

Web traffic depends on the number of visitors who are visiting different web pages. If you want to make your site popular you need to hook up with good search engines. The best way to increase the web traffic is to include the website in the major search engines.

Excessive web traffic can slow down or even avoid access to a page of a web site. As more people are clicking the page and thus more requests are going to the server which sometimes become difficult to handle and as a result heavy Web traffic takes place.

Over-popularity of a website can also lead to excessive Web traffic. The Smaller scale web sites are affected by Web traffic overload while the Large scale web sites can cope with the heavy Web traffic. The DoS attacks have led to closing down of websites after having heavy Web traffic.

Burst of publicity may cause a web traffic overload. For exmaple a news item in the media or a popular site link can cause a boost in the Web traffic. Web traffic has both pros as well as cons. There has been cases where Web sites have been closed down after an increase in Web traffic.
