South Africa vs. India Brought to an End by Weather

The only thing that South Africa took was frustration after bad light cut short day two of the second Test against India in Durban. Sachin Tendulkar (46 not out) and VVS Laxman (10no) gratefully accepted the umpires' offer of light half-an-hour into the evening session with the tourists on 103 for three in reply to the hosts' 328 all out.
Tendulkar was dropped in the slips by Smith off the bowling of Andrew Hall before the tea interval with 21 runs to his name, but that was the only chance he gave in alert innings.
South Africa paceman Andre Nel (two for 26) was the pick of the bowlers, accounting for Virender Sehwag for a first-ball duck in the fifth ball of India's innings, then trapping skipper Rahul Dravid leg before wicket to reduce the visitors to 35 for two. Opener Wasim Jaffer (26) made a promising start to his innings, but he failed to build on it, edging a sharp delivery from Makhaya Ntini to AB de Villiers in the slips.
The vastly experienced duo of Tendulkar and Laxman played solidly however, adding 42 runs before the clouds closed in and the day was later brought to an end before the game was over.
With the help of debutant Morne Morkel, the pair enjoyed a ninth-wicket stand of 39 runs before Prince was finally dismissed on 121, getting a thick edge to Laxman at second slip off the bowling of Shanthakumaran Sreesanth.
India hold a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after a comprehensive 123-run win in the first Test in Johannesburg.
