Camping Sites - How to Single Out The Right Ones
Camping is a popular activity, and a lot of persons like to locate good camping sites as early in the year as they can. It's important to ask a few questions when calling a place to book a site, as not all of these places are good, and each site offers something different. Some sites are just plain bad, and it is always good to avoid those. This is something that I learned all to well and I also learned it the hard way.
My husband's band had a festival that they played each summer, and they provide us with free camping sites so that we did not have to drive back and forth if we decide we didn't want to. This was good, but the campingsites they offered us were not always great. In fact, I am pretty sure that sometimes they had reserved for us the worst ones in the place. It might have been okay If we had been camping in a camper. But we were in tents, and there was no shade anywhere near our site. This meant that by eight in the morning, we were roasted out of our tent. No chance for me there to get some sleep.
The following year, we asked for different locations, but they were not much better. We should have asked more questions. Questions like how much shade may or may not be there, and if there are any extras that might end up being very important. Some sites have electricity and running water (great for coffee!), and these are great, but they don't all necessary have this. if that is something you insist on having, you have to find out before you accept the site they are offering to you.
Besides getting the right sites, booking for the right time is always important. Popular weekends will book fast, so you might not be able to get what you want, or you may end up getting one of the really awful camping sites. It's similar to airline tickets at popular times of the year. If you are sure you are going, and you know the dates, book your camping sites as soon as possible and remember to ask all the right questions. If you don't have to, you don't have to end up roasting in the sun or do without water, and you also won't have to worry about not finding a spot at all.
