Sutherland Overtime - Stephen Sutherland Overtime Win Over Washington and Lee University

Stephen Sutherland, from Randolph –Macon College scored his career’s high 22 points in the breathtaking basketball match against Washington Lee University, and helped his team have an overtime win. He scored 6-of-8 points on shooting, 5-of-7 three pointers, and 5-of-6 free throw line. The Sutherland Overtime win was not an easy one; in fact it was quite hard earned and thrilling too. Sutherland overtime score was the highest; he scored total of 6 points out of Randolph-Macon’s 12 points in the overtime and made his team win.

Initially, the Washington and Lee team (Generals) was leading for most of the time. In the first half, with 4:33 remaining in the period, the Generals were ahead by 11 points. The team was at 29-18, but the Randolph team bucked up and made spectacular 12 runs and took a lead, reaching 30-29. When the time reached half time, the Generals again got ahead. They reached 33, while the Randolph team with 31 points lagged behind.

After the half time, the match again took an exciting turn. Randolph team took a great start, team’s player Adam Krovic showed a great play, and helped the team reach 33-33. But Washington and Lee Team again took a lead with 6 points twice. Randolph team hurried up, and Sutherland’s three-pointer helped them reach 43-43.

The climax of the match was the most interesting one. With 3:26 remaining; Randolph Macon’s team made two fouls and reached 52-51. But again, the Randolph team showed great team effort; Chris Halkitis’ three-pointer helped the team score 3 points. The score reached 59-59, and sent the game into overtime.

For most of the overtime period, the Randolph Macon’s team remained ahead of the Generals. Sutherland overtime score was 6 out of the total 12 points scored by the Randolph team during the overtime. Sutherland overtime score helped the Randolph team win the match. The Sutherland overtime 6 points made the Randolph team reach the score 71, and the Generals remained at 67. The Sutherland team beat the Washington and Lee University in overtime with 71-67 points.
