Bill Belichick, Coach of the New England Patriots, demonstrates Christianity

I have been a fan of the Patriots since I was a little kid. I still remember the Steve Grogan, and Sam Cunningham days. Well this post isn’t really about the Patriots or whether Bill Belichick cheated or of this goes on in the NFL.It is about what Mr Belichick did when he spoke to the reporters. Over and over again when asked about the incident Coach Belichick would say something like “It’s over, now all I am worried about is the San Diego Chargers.” Even when a reporter asked how he will pay the fine, he answered that he was only thinking about the Chargers.Well this is what Christianity is all about. This is something that Christians have a hard time to grasp. Once we commit a sin, and ask for forgiveness, we are forgiven. We just need to go on with our lives. Put the sin behind us and forget about it. Dwelling on our sin is wrong and will only hinder our work.Let’s lay it all out. The Patriots broke the rules. It doesn’t matter if all the teams broke the rules or not. We all sin and it does not make a difference that everybody else sins. When we sin, we fall short and only because of Jesus Christ are we able to be right with God.Now this does not excuse you from what you do. Coach Belichick was fined $500,000, the team lost a first round draft pick and some other penalties were assessed. There were consequences for their actions. Just like when you get a speeding ticket, or if you rob a bank, there are consequences. The team accepted their punishment; the owner went on National TV and stated that it will never happen again. No I am not sure, because I do not know the parties involved, but if they were truly sorry for what they did, and not sorry just for getting caught, then this is what I mean by demonstrating Christianity. As Christians, we tend to hold onto some of our sins, especially the big ones. Again, there are consequences, but we still are forgiven. We do not have to keep punishing ourselves. Move on, learn from it and keep going. Just like what Coach Belichick said, “Its over, I am only focusing on the Chargers.”Well when you accept Christ, truly seek forgiveness, learn from your mistakes and move on, good things happen. By the way, the Coach Belichick and the Patriots beat the San Diego Chargers 38 – 14. What are your thoughts?
