How To Speed Up Your PC and Make It Run A Lot Faster
If our problems are because of failing hardware we may have a more serious problem. If this is just a software issue then we are better able to tweak things. What kind of applications do you use on a daily basis? Are they starting up when you first boot your computer? So many applications are available online these days that it is getting to be a waste of resources and money to have your own applications.
Back in the early nineties when I had an ancient computer and only a 40 megabyte computer things were slightly more productive. Since my computer back then did not start up into Windows right away it booted up a bit faster and virus scans took a lot less time on only a 40 megabyte hard drive. These days it is taking almost 23 hours every day just to scan my hard drive and when I have a lot of programs in start up it takes my system several minutes to completely start up.
Nowadays on a weekly basis I have my registry cleaned. Over time your registry will contain a lot of useless information that if your registry is not cleaned will cause your system to start up a lot slower. Because almost everybody is connected to the internet you need to clean your registry at least once a week plus you also need to scan daily for Spyware and Adware. The threats are being downloaded the whole time you are connected on the internet.
If you are running the latest Windows Os, Vista, you need to have at least 4 gigabytes minimum to get the best performance. The other versions of Windows will only use 3 gigabytes of Ram and I would highly suggest having the 3 gigs if you want to have your system running faster. Also if you want better performance take everything you can out of start up. Every program you have run at start up uses your systems memory. If you aren't going to be using MS Word for several days then why have it start up when you boot up your system?
Adware and Spyware also uses your systems memory. It is best to scan for these as often as possible and after you have done the scan click them to have them removed. One other item that would improve your system is a great video card that has a lot of memory on it.
If you are using a Mac or running Linux then load your system up with as much memory as possible. Also have the fastest memory card you can afford.
Now if you have Microsoft office running on your computer and you are connected to the internet then consider getting rid of your own copy of MS Office and using the internet version of Office. Your system will run a lot faster if it does not have to load things like MS Office.
