Keep a Clean Camp Site

Nobody wants to start off their camping holiday by arriving at a horrible unclean camp site. Whether you are primitive camping or enjoying a family camping holiday at a camp site with all the amenities, a little effort is all that need be expended in order to ensure that the next camper arriving at the camp site after you will enjoy it just as much.

After your camping holiday Leave No Trace
It's all about respect for nature and other people wanting to enjoy campsites. If campers would just leave their campsites the way they found them (assuming it was clean to begin with), then we will all be doing our share to promote camping as it should be.

Pack it in Pack it Out
This is another way of saying leave no trace, if you are on a camping holiday in the middle of nowhere and there are no bins or dump trucks around then everything around you pack up and leave the camp site as you found it.

Grey Water
This is old dishwater, which should not be dumped just anywhere. In the backcountry be sure to dump grey water away from any fresh water sources and use biodegradable soap. campsites usually have designated areas for dumping grey water.

Ashes from the Grill
Don't dump your ashes around the camp site. Either dump them in the campfire ring, or dump them in a bag and put the bag in the camp site rubbish facilities.

Laundries, Restrooms and Showers
Simply clean up after yourself. If you're ingenious and the camp site has no laundry, you might consider a shower with your clothes on. In the backwoods, take appropriate measures to cover human waste.

Fish Cleaning Stations
Use them! Don't clean your catch at the camp site.

Dumpsters
Be sure to take along some plastic garbage bags to collect trash. The last thing you should do before leaving the camp site is to make one more round and pick up any trash and put it in the dumpster.

Above all, remember the basic rule: Leave No Trace
