Sydney: Where the Journey Really Starts

After you have experienced a long flight, often all you feel like doing is having a long rest to recover. However, there are some destinations where you'll just want to hit the ground running and get into the swing of things, and Sydney undoubtedly falls into that category.

Although you may have flown a long way to get there, culture vultures will undoubtedly want to spread their wings and instantly take off to explore the array of stunning sights and attractions.

In the heart of the city, those keen on immersing themselves in Sydney's heritage can explore the Georgian architecture, and there is a plethora of museums and galleries to see. One popular museum that is likely to stand out is the Museum of Contemporary Art at Circular Quay. There are others that you may have to dig a little deeper to locate, such as the studio of the late artist Brett Whiteley, in Surry Hills - one of Sydney’s best kept secrets.

As you move away from Sydney's core, things don't get any less enriching. Therefore, why not hit the water for something a bit different to the bustle of the big city - by taking the ferry out to the island of Manly. Here, isolated beaches and bays are available to provide a pleasant antidote to central Sydney‘s hive of activity. If it is relaxation time you are after, then a day at the iconic Bondi Beach provides an excellent opportunity to soak up the sun.

Of course, there is much to keep you entertained during the day in Sydney, but you may need something to keep you stimulated when night falls. As it goes, Darling Harbour has plenty of bars and nightclubs to let you wile the night away. If you like to indulge in nightlife with a more bohemian or hedonistic twist, then Oxford Street has an array of bars and restaurants to suit those with a more acquired taste.

What's more, if you want to keep your revelling going day and night, it can be well worth keeping an eye out for the annual music festivals taking place in and around Sydney. This includes the GlobalGathering and Homebake festivals respectively, with the latter showcasing some of the most popular musical talent from Australia.

It is therefore good to know that booking flights to Sydney can be just as easy-going as the lifestyle over there. And once you have visited Sydney, you will soon realise that there’s always something worth returning there for; maybe something you hadn’t even discovered the first time.
