Travel deals to Athens and Greek islands

As Greece’s capital, Athens is very much in touch with many of the world’s major airports. The newest of these airports, the Eleftherios Venizelos airport, was completed in 2001 and consists of a total of 175 counters for checking in and 2 major runways.

In addition to this, the airport has hotels nearby, banks, courier service, ATMs, a post office, and rooms to hold conferences. The airport can have as many as 600 flights a day. This airport is truly a min-city that is enjoyed by those who travel to Athens. Many luxury hotels near the airport are finely built and can cater to any travelers needs. Plus, you will not have to go far to find a place to stay in – giving you and added convenience as well.

This is also the case for most of the hotels in or near Athens. If you can get a good deal on a room in an Athenian hotel, you are doing very well. For travel into and/or around Athens, you can travel by taxi, transit, or by bike. Although, in Athens, it is easy to get around, there are other places in Greece that are not as easy to access. The Greek islands are such places. In fact, the main form of transportation on many Greek islands is by ferry or bridge (if available.)

In addition to this, during the summer months, the ferries can be very crowded and may take hours before you are able to get to your destination. Not a good way to start a vacation. On the other hand, the beauty of Greek islands is so wonderful that anyone easily forgets the sometimes bad journey with the ferry.

However, in Athens, you do not have to worry about this. Also, if you are a Canadian or American citizen, you are required to have a passport, on hand, when arriving there or any Greek airport. This is the case if you are staying in Greece for less than three months at a time. Of course, if you choose Athens luxury hotels to stay at, you will get the best services ever, whether you are a foreign traveler or a Greek.
