Uses for Gold Coins and Other Pirate Candies

Go ahead and say it - you know you do it too! If you’re like me, you find those bags of gold coins in the stores irresistible. I can’t resist at least touching them, can you? The golden color, the thought of treasure, and the delicious taste of chocolate make them tremendously alluring. These coins were popular long before the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

In their simplest form, chocolate coins are pieces of chocolate formed into the general shape of a coin, covered in gold foil, and impressed with some image that looks like a "real gold coin." Nowadays it is even becoming popular to have them embossed with designs or personalized messages, which is the latest fad in chocolate coins. These are perfect for engagement or baby announcements, wedding favors, etc.

Chocolate gold coins are commonly used on St. Patrick’s Day too, filling the leprechauns’ pots of gold, as to resemble the legend in which the leprechauns always hid their pots overflowing with gold at the end of rainbows. It is said that if a person can catch a leprechaun, then they will be awarded the leprechaun’s gold and the leprechaun would then not only lose his magical powers, but also turn into a human.

"Talk Like a Pirate Day" is on September 19th; it is a very popular date for pirate-themed parties, especially little boys' birthday parties. There are many Pirate Candies to choose from, including the delicious chocolate gold coins. For the lollipop lovers, there are Crazy Bones Skeleton lollipops and Pirate Skull Head lollipops shaped just as the name describes. Available in packets with the scary skull shape, Bone Heads Skull candy comes in many colors and tastes like sweet tarts. Jack's Gems Milk Chocolate M&M's, Captain's Gold Peanut M&M's, and Pirate Pearls White Chocolate M&M's are the three different bags of Pirate Candies produced by M&M's.

Hershey's Nuggets are treasure chest-shaped pieces of candy that are enclosed in silver and gold foil. Since the Hershey's Nuggets are cheap, the candy budget will allow for more treats when you mix the treasure chests with the gold coins. Pirate Candy Treasure Chests, which contain a small toy, a treasure map, and yummy candy, are also wonderful exciting party gifts. For a great party favor, these little treasure boxes are just the thing!

You can throw in some pastel colored Candy Necklaces or some luscious Ring Pops to delight the females in the party. You can never go wrong by giving a lady some "bling," no matter what her age may be. Best of all, chocolate gold coins will dress up the event without taking too many coins out of your own pocket, regardless of the event or occasion. Do you like pirate candy?
