Zakynthos – Spoilt for Choice
Zakynthos is a fairly small island in Greece, but a very popular one. Measuring just 40 kilometres long by 20 kilometres wide you can easily explore the whole island in the course of your holiday.
Many parts are well worth exploring. There are some genuinely stunning sights that every visitor must see. The most famous is Smugglers Bay. It is so beautiful I don’t think I can do it justice with words. Look it up on the Internet and you will understand what I mean. The Blue Caves near Cape Skinari are also beautiful and well worth a visit.
The scenery is not the only reason to come to Zakynthos. During the summer months you are almost guaranteed warm, sunny days. The island has 123 kilometres of coastline and is blessed with a large number of golden beaches. The sea is clear and warm. The people are friendly. It is, in fact, a perfect place to come for a holiday.
That is why the island had 330,000 visitors last year. 65,000 of those were Greeks from the mainland. You have to assume that the Greeks know which Greek islands are the best. To have so many of them visiting this one tells you more reliably than any travel brochure ever can that, in a country rich with beautiful islands, Zakynthos is one of the best.
Whenever a place is popular with tourists you can be sure that hotels and holiday villas will be developed to service that demand. There was, at the last count, 250 Zakynthos hotels and 5 campsites. 250 hotels on one small island! Whatever part of the island you want to visit; there will be a hotel there. Whatever level of accommodation you are after; there will be a Zakynthos hotel for you. The number of hotels is growing every year. From small, family-run concerns to multinational hotel chains, from low budget rooms to luxurious suites, your choice of accommodation on the island is growing every year.
Why not book a flight, pick a Zakynthos hotel, and find out what all the fuss is about?
