Spring into Easter - Extra Sales

Although most people would argue that Easter is nowhere near as big as an occasion as it used to be for the gift and florists industry, there is now excuse to ignoring it all together. But florists have to come up with some inventive and novel approach.  In fact, with a little bit of careful planning, there is still opportunity aplenty for the positive-minded to make the religious festival the forth occasion in the floral calendar.

While Easter is time for gift giving, meaning there is obvious potential for sales, a lot of florists can also take advantage of the feel-good factor of the season and the psychological uplift of the pending spring and summer that Easter symbolises. Promoting Easter as a flower buying occasion means tapping into that spirit of the season – and people don’t have to be a church-going Christians to respond this spring themes of renewal and hope for the nature. The origins of Easter, in fact, are deriving not just from Christianity, but also from the Paganism. And the Jewish religion also celebrates it in the form of the Passover feast.

Actually Easter was celebrated even before that, but more as the coming of spring. The word Easter came from a Saxon word, Eostre, an ancient Anglo-Saxon goddess who symbolised both rebirth of the day and the rebirth of life in spring.

Nowadays, Easter perhaps giving the first chance to get outdoors in the sunshine, enjoy time with family and friends and freshen up the home and garden after the long dark winter.

Though, compare with Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, Easter is not a very busy flower-buying time of the year florists who can pick up on this mood with head-turning windows displays or appealing promotions should be able to pull back some of the Easter sales which have been undoubtedly been lost in recent years to the multiples wit their cut-price spring bunches.
