Grab a Shopping Break in Hong Kong

There is nothing quite as exhilarating as a shopping break in an unfamiliar city. It gives you a whole new world to explore, and it offers a terrific way to see the sights as well as visit shops that you don’t have near to your home.

There are plenty of cities around the world that offer great opportunities for eager shoppers to explore, but one of the best is Hong Kong. If you are staying here for any length of time – from a weekend to a whole holiday – you should allocate at least a day to wander round the shops to see the best that Hong Kong has to offer.

There are plenty of different areas to see and each one has its own distinct flavour, offering a different side of life in this bustling city. If you have time it’s advisable to visit more than one area as you will get a much better picture of what living and working in this city is like as you browse the shops and markets.

The Western District is a truly Eastern affair with a wide range of Chinese herbs to try, each one aimed at relieving ailments of various types. The Western District is also renowned for its market, with a medley of stalls selling all kinds of bargains and trinkets. It’s certainly a great place to see how good you are at haggling!

But Hong Kong is also home to a vast array of clothes shops and boutiques, displaying a wide variety of fashions that will appeal to every taste in clothing. Indeed the city is well known for these types of shops, and once you have bought some new outfits you can visit the Lanes to haggle over some accessories to complete the look. It doesn’t matter whether you’re after designer clothing or simply a new look for your wardrobe, you’re bound to find it in Hong Kong.

If you want to spread your shopping trip over more than one day, you’ll find there are plenty of hotels in Hong Kong to stay in. Staying in the Central area gives you immediate access to plenty of different stalls on The Lanes, as well as being right on top of many of the businesses that see the area bustling with workers from Monday to Friday. It gives you a real flavour of the city any day of the week.

The great thing about Hong Kong is that nowhere is too far to go when shopping is on the cards. You can wander round for hours and not run out of shops to visit, while the hustle and bustle of the city streets goes on around you. And when your feet are aching and you need to stop for a while, you’ve got your pick of dozens of fine eateries right in front of you.
