Home Design Tips

There are lots of ways to give your home a fresh new look without spending loads of money ( Iknow ,i do it all the time). if you are like me and get bored with your rooms, you can update them easily. Take the kitchen , if you want a new look but can,t afford to change the whole kitchen, one way is to change the handles on the cupboards make sure you get the right size handles though or they won,t fit.

What about the tiling ? does it look grubby, you can re grout really easily, or use tile transfers, this works best if you only use them on a few tiles and not on every one.

Just simple things can make a difference ,like changing window dressings , and lighting, also how about hanging some pictures , all these things change the look of the room.

if you want to re paint the walls ,go for a completly different colour , be brave and try colours you would not usually go for ,you may be suprised and actually like it . try a tester pot first though .

Replacing things like kettles and toasters, and storage jars can update your kitchen without spending a fortune . Using fowers and candles, brightens up window sills and shelves. The best thing to do is stand back and take a look at the room and see what changes you can make. If it ,s your lounge or bedroom that needs updating, just think about accesories to give a new look to your rooms. In the lounge try new cushions and maybe a rug, and of course ,candles.

Change your bedlinen, and throw on some cushions and maybe a throw. If you dont want to repaint a whole room just do one wall , like behind the bed, use a colour that co ordinates with the room. Try using a bold colour if you have pale walls ,this will create a focal point. You could then hang a large mirror or artwork on the wall . you could also do this on a wall that you have a fireplace, this can look really good.

Try making your own artwork, you can buy a canvas really cheaply ,try painting a design on paper first then when you are happy with it copy it onto your canvas for your own individual artwork.

You can use one large canvas or try putting three together on the wall . this is a lot cheaper than buying artwork and more individual. Try filling bowls with pebbles and then placing candles in them, and buy some cheap fairy lights and wrap around a vase with twigs in them .These things are quite cheap to do.

If you like your home to smell nice put some fabric conditioner in a spray bottle then put a small amount of water in it,this makes a great room spray though do not use on fabrics like silk. You can also use fabric conditioner by putting it on radiators and light bulbs then when they heat up you get a lovely aroma You can also use fabric conditioner mixed with a bit of water to polish tv screens and mirrors ,this helps to stop the dust building up as quickly as it is anti static ,and again also smells nice, i also spray things like shoes with this, infact i use it on almost everything.

You dont have to spend a fortune on your home to make it look nice, just stand back and look at each room and see what you can do to freshen it up .
