GM Essentials: the GM brake pad and the GM spark plug

GM is the world's 2nd largest auto company at present. It has been a century now since the company was founded in Flint, Michigan and today over 9.17 million GM cars were globally sold under an impressive lineup of brand names. GM is currently housing an enormous space at the Renaissance Center in Detroit that serves as their global headquarters. Additionally, the company approximately employs 284,000 around the world and manufactures its car and trucks in 33 countries.

It is safe to say that GM leads the world's best of the best automotive manufacturers in terms of sales. However, it is also a fact that their vehicle models are regarded to be the best make under any category. Their automobile parts and accessories are specifically engineered to enhance the overall performance of the car. Take for example the GM brake pads.

Brake pads are used to maintain optimum friction during braking. When the brake pedal is pressed, the brake rotor and the brake disc will clamp together that will cause the wheels to stop. The thing is, majority of the braking power comes from the friction of the brake pads which are placed between the brake caliper and the brake rotors. The difference of the GM brake pads over other pads is that they are made from organic ingredients such as asbestos and carbon that take up heat and friction much more efficiently.

Another notable GM component is the GM spark plug wires. They efficiently control the electricity that flows through them and carry the energy to the spark plugs. In turn, the spark plugs will do its function and ignite a spark that eventually triggers the engine to life. GM spark plug wires can take up staggering amounts of electricity ranging from about 10,000 to 15,000 ohms.

With components like these, it wouldn't be much of a surprise that GM will continue to dominate the competition. The GM brake pad and the GM spark plug are just two out of the many important elements found in a GM automobile.
