Tropical Fish: Simple And Enjoyable Hobby
You will enjoy both looking at the fish and hearing the sounds that they make in your aquarium at home. Running water soothes the mind of many people and it is proof positive judging by the amount of fountains people are using as home decor. There are a number of white noise machines that reproduce sounds of water, including such noises as rain or a waterfall. Air pumps and filters make much less noise than they did 20 years ago, thanks to advances in soundproofing technology. Experiment with placing the air pump on different surfaces to find which one produces the least amount of noise. Although, you may find that the white noise of an air pump is actually relaxing by itself.
Fish are not as popular companions as roommates. They don't reason out (except perhaps to plead for food), nor disagree, and they certainly don't talk ill about your mother behind your back. The most rewarding aspect of caring for fish in your aquarium is that they learn to know your face. Your fish will respond to you and perform for you and no one else because they recognize you. These behaviors include swimming up and kissing the surface as if to mimic eating, attempting to follow an individual around, or even darting back and forth in the tank. There is no way to prove whether the fish's emotions include happiness, although by their actions it can certainly be argued that they do!
To properly run your home aquarium, you must have three things: a plan, some patience, and a fair amount of technical know-how. It's important that you spend some time every day simply watching your underwater pets, just to make sure they are still in good health. The average person doesn't have the spare time to learn such skills. Having healthy fish swimming in your tank is like having an aquarium of living jewels, and gives one a pride like looking at your own art work.
