Moving To Florida

I like Florida. Everything is in the 80’s, the Temperatures, the Ages and the IQ's. - George Carlin

Perhaps one of the most interesting states in the US. Most part of Florida is a peninsula jutting out into the Atlantic Sea with the Bay of Mexico on the other side. Apart from Florida, most part of the state has an exotic subtropical climate, though it is very close to the sea and hence humid and tropical.

Well, that’s the boring Geography part; what’s really interesting is, Florida offers a great quality of life. Not only is the cost of living low, it also has good schools and a quite a few good colleges, very low crime rates, and very low mortgage rates. So, if you’re moving to Florida Two Thumbs Up! Way to go.

There’s something you should think about though—and, I am not trying to scare you—the possibility of Hurricanes in the coastal areas. What with the devastating ‘Rita’ and the even deadlier ‘Katrina,’ you probably want to know everything there is to know about the tropical cyclones. Read up on the trends and forecasts by climatologists and/or if you want to act “sane” steer clear of the coast.

Demographically Florida has an older mix of population in the Northwestern counties; where a lot of retired people migrate every year. South Florida on the other hand is Urban with a large youth population and dependent on the military and space programs for most of its employment. The budgetary decisions taken by the Federal Government has a severe impact on the population fluctuations in the southern parts of Florida.

So, now you know where to go if you’re retired. If you’re looking for a job though, it is best you spend some time on the internet before you make your move. If you have a college degree, chances are you will get a job very easily in the state. The employment opportunities are constantly burgeoning over here. Or if you’re more interested in business—the Florida State Government is very business friendly. The economy growth in the State of Florida is far ahead of most other states in the nation.
