Art Behind Porn Films

I am sure you have heard of the joke that if it was not for porn, men would never have learned how to use the Internet. Funny as it may sound, there is some truth to it. The convenience of downloading porn and shopping for adult movies online have made video rental obsolete. You no longer see hooded men or women entering video shops trying their best to hide their identities anymore.

Instead, you see brown packages delivered through the mail - packages containing pornographic DVDs and sex toys. Even if I am glad that more and more people are opening up to the idea of adult films being artful, what bothers me is that there are still a lot of people who associate pornography with just sleazy sex. Many don’t even stop to consider that there might be a lot more to adult movies apart from naked actors getting it on.

Although watching pornography is quite common — and men openly talk about videos they have watched — you will never see a group of people huddled together in front of a wide screen HDTV watching the latest movie starring their favorite porn star. Yet, you see them in movie theaters, lining up to see grotesque horror movies or sci-fi action flicks, and calling these violent films artistic.

They talk about graphics, storyline, characters, directors, producers and all the factors that would make a movie great, without realizing that many adult videos have the same things!

There is also a matter of directly comparing adult pornographic films to video clips made by random men picking up women. Adult movies have storylines; there are scripts written and followed. There are real sets with lights, hi-tech cameras and other props to make the scenes more believable. Actors have “costumes”; there are dressing rooms and hairstylists.

There are directors, cameramen, an editing team, as well as a producer. Amateur porn on the other hand, does not have all the factors listed above, and are not considered artsy. A pornographic movie is not done in two days either, unlike what a lot of people think. Just like big budget Hollywood movies, a lot of thought goes into the production of adult films.

There are budgets to consider, castings, sets to furnish, film crews to hire and most especially finding the right script to use. If you have seen how professionals come up with adult movies, you would be ashamed at even thinking that all pornographic films are plain sleazy.

Surprising as it may sound, a lot of couples watch pornography — either because they want to spice up their relationships or because they want to try out something new in their love making sessions. A lot of married men watch adult clips to see how they can enhance their skills at pleasuring their wives. Women also watch porn, to see what kinds of positions or techniques can be used to give their partners more pleasure.

Watching pornography isn’t always connected to masturbation, unlike what has always been portrayed by the media. There is more to pornographic films than meets the eye.
