Invitations and Announcements - Worthwhile Tips
An announcement normally demands no response from the receiving person. I can't tell you how many times I have got invitations and announcements and I wasn't sure if a response was required. The wording they chose in the card made the whole thing confusing.
For example, there was no enclosure in a wedding announcement I received from a friend of mine who was getting married. After the wedding, she sent a note saying that she was sorry that I couldn't make it to the occasion. She was not conscious that there is a significant difference between invitations and announcements.
I sent wedding present to the couple's home address with well-wishes. Of course, not everyone can be invited to a wedding considering the costs. I just figured that they had a small budget and that they needed a cut-off limit. Some couples only invite very close members of their families to these kinds of events.
The difference between invitations and announcements may seem simple but it can be a bit puzzling. It seems as if a lot of persons are inclined to take announcement products as invites. There are some easy ways to determine if you need invitations or announcements.
If you are expecting the person to attend the event or party, then you need invitation products. These items generally include a response card. Just place a stamp and your address on the enclosed card in order to get your response. You will then be able to plan your event. It does help immensely to know how many persons will attend.
Because the announcement doesn't required a response from the receiver, why do you need to send one?. This is the principal difference between invitations and announcements. You are not having a ceremony that they can attend but you want others to know about your special event. Announcements are commonly reserved for graduations and births but some choose to use them for weddings as well. This is especially true if the wedding ceremony is very small and the couple can not invite everyone that they would like to invite.
The difference between invitations and announcements are frequently taken for granted. Yet, it is important to really think things through before sending any correspondence through the mail.
