A baby guide and things about baby showers
A baby shower is a party in which expectant parents receive gifts for their expected child. Among Hindus in India, religious rituals resembling modern baby showers are held during the seventh month of pregnancy. Baby showers are increasingly popular in Africa, Asia and Latin America, but are "women-only" social gatherings.
Beginning in the 1970s if permitted by the mother and if asked politely, "tummy-rubbing" is now a baby shower event. Baby showers, like bridal showers and bachelorette parties, are becoming open to new ideas, concepts, themes, games, and changes in etiquette. In the United States, many people choose to have baby showers for both parents, and some people have a men-only shower.
Here are some practical baby shower actions:
- Guess the baby food flavor: guests have to taste-test several flavors of baby food and try to identify them.
- Draw a picture. Give any todlers in the group a coloring pen and paper and see who can draw the best picture of the baby or the parents to be.
- Change the diaper but only using one hand, the fastest wins.
Toys/Gift ideas and Toy facts:
Toys and games have been unearthed from the sites of ancient civilizations. Not all toys are appropriate for all ages of children. Dolls are usually miniatures, but baby dolls may be of true size and weight.
Many countries have passed safety standards limiting the types of toys that can be sold. The earliest toys were made from materials found in nature, such as rocks, sticks, and clay. Toys for infants often make use of distinctive sounds, bright colors, and unique textures.
Baby details and info
Some babies are born with a full head of hair whereas others are completely bald or have patchy hair. Newborns are wet, covered in streaks of blood, and coated with a white substance known as vernix caseosa, which is hypothesised to act as an antibacterial barrier. Daycare centers with an "infant room" often call all children in it "infants" even if they are older than a year and/or walking; they sometimes use the term "walking infant".
Infant formula does not provide these immune substances and in places with poor quality water supply, subjects the infant to an increased risk of disease. The claim that the food "caters to your baby's tastes" might seem a little farfetched, but this is pretty standard for the most part. It has been noted by researchers that, "Children as young as 18 months display sex-stereotyped toy choices".
