Before You Begin Cleaning:

As in all cleaning procedures, the first step is to gather the recommended cleaning equipment together, check the cart supplies and proceed to the area to be cleaned.  Plan your work.  Always follow an orderly pattern of movement, such as clockwise or counter-clockwise around the room.  Clean from high to low.  Work towards the doorway and do the dry work before the wet work.  Clean objects that can be cleaned with the same products at the same time.  Plan your steps so the cleaners will have time to work.

Recommended Method:

Knock on the door – identify yourself (as “housekeeping”) and enter when appropriate.  Place a “Closed For Cleaning” sign at the door.

Clean and fill all dispensers (soap, toilet tissue, paper towel, etc.)

Remove all trash and clean the receptacles.  Then dust mop or sweep the floor.

Clean the sinks and mirrors.  Then clean and disinfect the toilets and/or urinals.

Clean and disinfect the shower stalls and locker area.  Damp wipe the area.  Remove any graffiti (if applicable).
Then wet mop and disinfect the floors.

Inspect your work, and then reopen the restroom.

Clean the cleaning equipment thoroughly and return to storage area.
