Remote Control Shutters
Even plantation shutters have finally gone high tech. New remote control shutters are ideal for high or difficult to reach windows, but will definitely satisfy those of you who like gadgets and want to control everything at the press of a button.
The remote control has a series of pre-set positions, and at the press of a button you can adjust the shutters louvers which then control the light entering a room. The shutters can be programmed so that only one remote control is required per room, even if there are multiple windows, or if you have an all-in-one infra red remote control, for example to control your lighting or television/sound system, the shutters can be added to this so that all your technical items can be controlled in one place.
The remote control shutters appearance varies little from the traditional plantation style shutters. The sides of the shutters which house the louvers are approximately 10mm larger than standard shutters, the motor that powers the louvers is contained behind a discrete panel in the back of the shutter, and each shutter door has a small infra-red circle on the front which receives the signal from the remote. The middle louver is motor powered, and actually drives the other louvers to adjust. This louver has a small metal section at the side of the blade where it connects to the louver although this is colour coded to match the shutters. However, the remote control shutters have been specifically designed to match other shutters, and there is little obvious difference to traditional shutters.
The beauty of remote control shutters is also that when open all your shutter louver blades will be in the same position, creating a feeling of uniformity or neatness. However, if you prefer you can still adjust each of the shutters individually until you have the light levels you require.
For those of you who like your gadgets, or like to control everything in your home with the press of a button, new remote control shutters will be a great addition to your windows. They are ideal for cinema or TV rooms, or for those of you who don’t want to leave the comfort of your sofa to adjust your lighting.
These shutters provide a great solution for windows that are out of reach but require a window covering, such as over stairs. The shutters can be adjusted to allow light to enter, but without the need to reach the window.
Remote control shutters are also ideal for use by those with physical restrictions who may find it difficult to reach the window to alter the louvers, but want to retain control. For someone who is bedridden they are ideal, as they allow the control of light levels without needing to reach the window.
