Nova Announce Launch OF Design Shop

One of the areas that manufactures are continually focusing on is the development of new products.  These products should be designed in such a way that they will be attractive to consumers.  NOVA, a manufacturer of contemporary lighting fixtures is one such company who takes the designing process seriously.

The company recently announced that they will be opening a design studio which will be tasked to create prototypes of future products.  These prototypes will be the basis of future production models.  The prototypes will be created in the company's design studio in Laguna Hills, California.

The said studio named "Q's Laboratory" is equipped with all the needed areas where artisans will be able to create high-quality prototypes.  The said facility will be equipped with a wood shop and a model-making facility.

NOVA will be working with John Gilmore Designs in this endeavor.  In 1997, NOVA acquired John Gilmore Designs as part of its expansion.  After the acquisition of the design studio, John Gilmore, founder of the design company went on board NOVA as the Chief Designer.

Gilmore explained that the name of the prototype making facility is taken from Q, the ingenious engineer of James Bond.  He went on to say that they have "worked hard over the past year to assemble a team of talented industrial designers, artists and sculptors and create an innovative environment for them that promises to foster a spirit of creativity and imagination".

"Together we will be able to speed up the research and design process and refine our concepts so we can be sure of sending a perfected design for mass production," he added.

NOVA's Chief Executive Officer Daniel Edelist said that it has become very important for the company to create a design studio as they are aiming to increase their product line.  "As we continue to expand beyond lighting into a comprehensive lifestyle home décor assortment, it becomes more important that ever to be able to prototype domestically," said Edelist. These new products that NOVA is thinking of putting in the market may serve as good Valentines Day gift ideas for the future.

"Even the best drawings get modified when they are transferred to our Chinese factory. Under the guidance of veteran design leader Jon Gilmore, we will now have the ability to fabricate an actual prototype, test it to get the bugs out, solicit market research from our key customers and value engineer the design before it gets produced," added NOVA's CEO.
