James Spears To Sell Britney’s Cars

Britney Spears' father has been given the green light by a court the power to “sell or dispose certain of” her cars. Reports said this move “will save substantial expense to the conservatorship estate.”

James Spears, the American pop singer’s father, will start selling off her daughter’s fancy car fleet as he struggles to slash her expenses. On March 17, a court granted James the power to sell or dispose an undisclosed number of Britney’s seven cars. Reason for the disposal of the cars was because maintaining the fleet of vehicles was too expensive, said James’ lawyers.

Britney’s car fleet includes two white Mercedes (a SL65 and a CLK350), a white Mini Cooper convertible and a black Audi, according to the court filing. It was also revealed by a court spokesman that Britney’s $1500 a week allowance "is not her only source of (personal) income," but did not give further details as to where it comes from.

Britney has a fortune of around $40 million, which her father wants to conserve to enable her and her two children to live comfortably even if she never works again, OK magazine reported. As a consequence, Britney’s father ordered a budget of $100,000 a month for her daughter’s entertainment and vacations to be reduced by 90 percent. Additionally, Britney’s $16,000 monthly clothing allowance has been halved. The troubled pop idol is also giving up a $30,000-dollar per month rental house in Malibu.

E! News recently reported that Britney’s driving-without-a-license case has been postponed until June 18th. The “Girl in the Mirror”, as watchers pointed out, did not bother to seek aid from car mirrors to boost safe driving.

The decision by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge did not come as a surprise. This is because Britney is under the control of a legal conservatorship and is considered unable to enter a plea on her own behalf.

The license charge stems from Britney's hit-and-run accident in August last year. The accident happened in front of paparazzi lenses. The singer reached a settlement with the other driver, but it was later discovered she was not in possession of a valid California driver license at the time of the accident, a KBS Radio release said. Britney, however, have a valid Louisiana driver license.

The conservatorship, comprising of James and a lawyer, will remain in control of her affairs until a July 31 hearing, said OneIndia.
