For Women How To Choose A Costume

Picking the Best Costume For Women

For a lot of adults, Halloween tends to become more of a lesson in costume hunting than a holiday filled with candy and fantasy. However, if you can get passed this seemingly minor drawback you're going to at least be on your way to acting like you're having a carefree, easy-going night. Consistently, women will probably have a tougher time trying to nail down the right costume. For once, though, it might be with good reason--there are literally thousands of options for women of all personalities, sizes, and shapes. That being said, the majority of ladies' costume choices fall into one of two basic categories--sexy costumes and all the others.

There are certainly the traditional Halloween costumes like a witch, a ghost, a black cat, etc. These are probably a first choice for the conventional Halloween party goer. Practically any costume idea can be adapted to have a sexier, sleeker look or you can play it down, and keep your modesty. Plus size costumes are now available in just about every style. The important thing to remember is to pick a costume that you're comfortable in, both mentally and physically. It's a challenge to pull off your look if you aren't self-assured in your halloween costume.

I've noticed that the sexy category has grown a lot in recent years, the bonus being the costume options are becoming more diverse and varied. No longer is it just a choice between sexy female police officer or a French maid (though these are fabulous options). The sexy costume genre has branched out to include pop culture. Largely because of television shows like 'Alias' and movies like 'Charlie's Angels', ladies can now have a particular strong and charming figure in mind on Halloween. After all, it's, the one night in a year when a normally professional and conventional woman can cut loose a little bit in public.

On the other end of things; in the not necessarily sexy department, there is also a great collection of choices. Movies and TV can still be an inspiration in this case. The classic television shows such as 'I Dream of Jeanie' and 'I Love Lucy' have great women characters to dress up as. Costumes from a specific period are also an excellent choice. an outfit inspired by the roaring twenties such as a flapper dress or even a decorative Renaissance era costume can be really fun.The 1950s is another fun time period. Think poodle skirts and ponytails. Most importantly, try matching your individuality to your costume. Nothing finishes costumes better than your own playacting.

When you have finally decided on your costume, don't forget to accessorize with matching bag, jewelry, wig, feather duster, make-up -- whatever is appropriate for your costume. I can't stress enough the impact a wig can have on a costume. When you get all your finishing touches in place, head off to your celebration prepared to dazzle the other guests at the party. Have some good fun this Halloween and live a few of fantasies. That is what this holiday is about.
