For Women How To Choose A Costume

Choosing the Best Women's Costume

Halloween for many adults is often more of a challenge in costume hunting than a holiday for sweets and invention. But if you can get passed this seemingly minor hurdle you're going to at least be well on your way to having a happy-go-lucky, carefree evening. Consistently, ladies will probably have a harder time finding the right costume. For once, however, it is with good reason--there are hundreds, if not thousands of options for ladies of all personalities, shapes, and sizes. That being said, a majority of women's costume choices do fall into one of two categories--sexy costumes and everything else.

I've noticed that the sexy category has grown a great deal in the last few years, which means the costume selections are more varied. It's no longer just a choice between sexy French maid or sexy lady police officer (although these are fabulous options). Sexy costumes have branched out to include pop culture. Because of TV shows like 'Alias' and movies like 'Charlie's Angels', ladies can now have a specific fascinating and powerful female in mind for Halloween night. It is, after all, the only night of the year when a normally very demure and professional woman can cut loose a little bit in public.

On the other end of things; the not necessarily sexy genre, there is also a large assortment of choices. Movies and television still can be inspiring. So-called classic TV shows like 'I Dream of Jeanie' and 'I Love Lucy' offer you wonderful characters that are female. Period costumes are also a fantastic option. An elaborate Renaissance era costume or even a twenties flapper dress can be great fun.The 1950s is another fun time period. Think saddle shoes, poodle skirts and ponytails. Above all, try to match your own personality to your costume. There isn't anything that completes a costume better than your playacting.

Of course there are the familiar Halloween costumes like a ghost, a black cat, a witch, etc. These are likely your best bet for the more traditional Halloween party goer. Almost any costume idea can be changed to have a sexier look or you can play it down, and stay modest. Plus size costumes are now available in practically every style. The important thing is to pick a costume that you're relaxed and comfortable in, both mentally and physically. It can be hard to pull off your look if you don't feel confident in your halloween costume.

Once you've picked your costume, don't forget to accessorize with make-up, handcuffs, a matching handbag, jewelry, wig -- whatever is appropriate for your costume. A good wig can have on a costume. With all the finishing touches in place, head off to your celebration prepared to dazzle other guests at the party. Have fun this Halloween and live out a couple of fantasies. Really, that is what halloween is about.
