“Who am I?” Perhaps you remember getting deeply involved in conversation about this question with your college friends after a particularly provocative lecture. Or you attended a retreat, and had the opportunity for deeper reflection than usual. Maybe you just looked up at the vast night skies on a crystal clear night, and contemplated your existence in the Universe. Maybe you had a baby. Maybe someone close died.
How do we begin to fathom such a big question? Certainly each of us has a “sense of self” --an image of who we are. While we might be able to describe our life through occupation, family roles, geography, ethnicity, race, age or personal qualities, there is an intangible sense of self that pervades our whole approach to life. The way that we orient to life, and thus, to ourselves, is like the air we breathe—it is invisible and we are hardly ever aware of it.
The world today has become a nest for organized crime and self-defense is perhaps the only way to combat it. However, it is not possible for all of us to train ourselves in martial arts or apply them when necessity occurs.
What is success; many have different opinions, Napoleon Hill In the book "The Law of Success" gives my personal best choice; quote;
“Success is the development of power with which to get whatever one wants in life without interfering with the rights of others” This would validate the following, Success is more than economic gains, titles, and degrees, success is following your dreams.

I’ve just returned from a week in Atlanta immersed in deep Enneagram work with 30 “Essence Friends” from around the world. (The moment I started writing this message to you, this Cat Stevens song came streaming in on the radio, so I included it. Somehow, it all fits.) The impact from the week highlighted three themes that I want to share with you. Perhaps they will remind you of what you already know...
