Hair Loss. Aging Factor

Hair is closely connected to individual’s beauty and self confidence that’s why the loss of hair is one of the major problems for aging people. People with rare hair use all kinds of methods to restore their beautiful hair: they buy wigs, make operations applying implants and buy all sorts of exotic potions. Before doing that it is necessary to get know about factors that cause hair loss in order to find effective methods and remedies to prevent it. Men are usually more prone to hair loss as this problem is caused by genetic factors.

The major culprit for hair loss in men seems to be the hormone called DHT (dihydrotestostrone). As the level of this hormone increases in the body, the hair loss pattern also catapults high up resulting in the thinning of hair leading to eventual permanent damage of the hair follicles. This develops the dreaded syndrome of balding and robs an otherwise positive man of his confidence. In women too, this testosterone derivate hormone DHT plays havoc and leads to hair loss even though the results might not be as extreme as the ones seen in men. In the case of women, two more factors accentuate hair loss. The first one is triggered off by a traumatic situation in her life, disturbing the normal hair growth pattern and is called Telogen Effluvium. There is a general thinning of hair in this case. Another major condition which seems to be promoting hair loss in women is Alopecia Areata. In this rare condition, there is loss of hair in patches not only from the scalp but also from various other body parts. Thankfully, there is a wide variety of hair loss remedies available to prevent hair loss.

One of the oldest remedies for hair loss is massaging of the scalp. It has been tried, tested and proved to stimulate hair follicles when done for a few minutes on a regular basis. Oiling the scalp is not such a bad idea either! Coconut, olive and jojoba oils have been found to have hair nourishing and growth promoting properties. Also, keeping the head cool and periodic washing with cold or lukewarm water is recommended. The significance of good nutrition can never be overlooked as the quality of hair depends heavily on our diet. The presence of a balanced diet with ample amount of minerals, fats and proteins is the key to lustrous and glamorous hair. Raw Palmetto extract also helps to avoid the problem of hair loss by lowering the DHT levels in the body and prevents hair loss.

Apart from the above said the use of the wonder plant Aloe Vera can help to reduce the pH levels when its gel is applied on the scalp. A relatively new found compound called Polysorbate-80 is also believed to decrease the DHT levels in the body thereby preventing hair loss. Keeping the body clean from the inside as well as the outside is a major key to prevent hair loss, detoxification activities must be carried out to keep oneself clean and maintain a glossy mane. Exercises are also good for hair as they indirectly help in prevention of hair loss by improving the blood circulation and distribution of oxygen in the body.
