The Ins And Outs Of Selecting An Abdominal Exercise Machine

There was a time when my sister had great abs because she was particular about the food which she ate, restricted her fat intake and did hundreds of ab crunches daily and, though it was very hard work, it was more than worth it. All that changed however after she gave birth to her first child when she swiftly went very soft around the middle, developed visible love handles, and was unable to seem to get rid of the flab regardless of how many diets she tried.

This would have been bad enough, however she also found that she was not able to do ab crunches anymore as a result of severe chronic back pain. She was not prepared however to live with being out of shape and so she resolved to check out various abdominal exercise machines.

Abdominal exercise machines are designed specifically to focus attention on the abs during exercise and the majority of machines imitate regular crunches although they are much easier on the body. For example, almost everybody does crunches lying flat on the floor with their hands clasped behind their head placing them at risk for back and neck injuries. However, this is not a risk with abdominal exercise machines as they limit your motion and make you maintain good form to work with the machine. As a result these exercise machines are virtually foolproof and allow the rest of the body a break while you are working on your abs.

My sister had seen many infomercials for abdominal exercisers but was not prepared to rush out and buy one based solely on what she had seen on television. She had no desire to hear what actors and professional bodybuilders were being paid to tell her but wished to hear what ordinary people had to say about these machines based upon their own personal experience.

So she jumped online and found a number of third-party consumer reviews of several of the leading abdominal exercisers. She wanted to find out which machines were well-built, simple to use, and actually worked on sculpting the abs and which machines would simply be a waste of money and time. She also wished to discover websites from which she could buy the most popular abdominal exercise machines at reasonable prices because these machines are expensive and any discount which she might be able to find would certainly be helpful.

One comment she made to me was that she was pleased to have read the internet reviews because one of the exercisers which she had her eye on had not been at all well received by those reviewing it. It turns out that this particular machine has one or two significant problems which she would not have discovered before buying it. As a result she bought a machine which was a fair way down her list of possibilities but which had nevertheless received very good reviews.

The best news is that with her machine she can work on her abs several times a week without experiencing any of the back pain which she had experienced without it. Most importantly, she is now starting to witness a reduction in her waist line and should soon be happily back in shape once more and feeling very much like her old self.
