Anti Aging: Supplements Are Part of the 8 Step Plan for Immortality
To this end, Dvorsky recently published an article titled “Eight tips to dramatically improve your chances of living forever” -- an eye-catching headline indeed. The scientific know-how to stop the aging processes won’t exist for some time, Dvorsky says, but in the meantime, here’s what everyone interested in extending their lives should do:
1. Eat the right foods.
2. Avoid the wrong foods.
3. Adopt a calorically-restricted diet.
4. Supplement your diet with vitamins and minerals.
5. Exercise and be active.
6. Avoid dangerous activities and unhealthy habits.
7. Support life-extension causes and be socially active.
8. Sign up for cryonics just to be safe.
We know, or can easily discover, what modern nutritionists consider the right and wrong foods, and Dvorsky offers little news in points 1 and 2. But calorically-restricted diet research, the subject of point 3, is much less widely known, or even understood by the scientists themselves who discovered some years ago that low-cal diets added up to 40% or more to the life spans of test animals -- something to think about when considering another donut or slice of pie.
Points 5 and 6 pretty much speak for themselves, but Dvorsky has some interesting things to say about each. We’ll leave point 7 -- getting active in life-extension causes, and 8 -- signing up to have your body frozen in liquid nitrogen in the hopes that scientists in the future will figure out how to thaw and cure you -- entirely up to you.
But point 4, anti-aging supplements in the diet, offers specific and valuable advice. According to the American Medical Association, he says, most people do not consume an optimal amount of all vitamins by diet alone. And he quotes from the popular book, Fantastic Voyage: Live Long Enough to Live Forever, by Kurzweil and Grossman, that urges people to get these minimum daily dosages of anti-aging supplements:
• The 13 essential vitamins: A, C, D, E, K, and the B vitamins -- thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, biotin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, and folate available in all good multivitamin anti-aging supplements
• The 17 essential minerals: calcium, magnesium, potassium, selenium, chromium, zinc and the 11 lesser others usually found in good mineral anti-aging supplements
• The two 2 essential fatty acids: omega 3 and omega 6, found in fish oil capsules or liquid anti-aging supplements. To this we’d add omega 9 as well.
A proper vitamin and mineral regimen, Dvorsky advises, helps you reduce the chances of cancer, neurological disorders and cardiovascular disease, and are essential anti-aging supplements.
