Why Is Hypnotherapy So Successful At Helping People to Stop Smoking

Using hypnotherapy to stop smoking seems to have taken off in this country and if the press is to be believed, it’s achieving some pretty amazing results when compared to good old fashioned will power or nicotine replacement therapy.

So why is this? How can hypnotherapy help people to stop smoking when will power or nicotine replacement therapy can’t?

Well the answer lies in the fact that most smokers have a number of very rigid beliefs about smoking; like how addicted they are to nicotine; how smoking helps them relax; how they enjoy smoking; and, hard it's going to be to quit. And because beliefs have the power to control how we think, feel and behave, these smoking beliefs mean that whilst a smoker might want to quit, it can be extremely difficult, irrespective of how hard they might want to quit, or how many patches they use.

At the same time however, if these beliefs could be replaced by new, more helpful ones about smoking, then stopping could be so much easier. So what if a smoker who really wanted to quit suddenly believed that they weren’t addicted to nicotine; that smoking didn’t help them to relax; that they didn’t actually enjoy smoking; and all importantly, it was easy to quit? As you can imagine, they would probably just stop, right?

Well that’s exactly what hypnotherapists across the country are doing for their clients who wish to stop smoking – they are helping to change the smoker’s beliefs. You see, the process of hypnotherapy involves using the power of the subconscious mind to help change beliefs rapidly. And as a result, we all get to experience that inane grin on a clients face when they realise that they simply are going to stop – no trauma, no patches and absolutely no withdrawal symptoms.

If you wish to stop smoking, perhaps you should give stop smoking hypnotherapy a chance!
