Acne The Correct Way To Cure it
Part One:
Having acne can be traumatising to say the least, especially if your acne is severe. Not only does acne affect us physically but emotionally too.
You will find that there are two important factors to take into consideration in order to be successful in the treatment of acne. The first is in the selection of the right medication and the second in how we use that medication. You will find that in choosing the medication we on the whole get it right but where we get it wrong is in the use and application of the medication. We more often than not get the use of the medication so wrong and fail to use it properly.
This in turn leads to us not getting the desired effects from the medication. Take for example antibiotics, we may take the antibiotics for a week or two at the most. We may see minor improvements but not a great deal else. So what do we do, we start missing days and then before you know it we are no longer taking the antibiotics and our acne is getting worse and not better and so we move onto the next treatment. But what we fail to realise is that it can be as much as six weeks or more before the antibiotics start to work and really make a difference but due to our impatience we have given up too soon.
Take topical acne medication for acne treatment for example, how many of us know hot to or use it properly. So let me help you by giving you some advice and facts on it's use.
The wrong thing to do is apply the medication immediately after washing our faces. I know this is something that seems and comes natural to us all but it is the wrong thing to do. Instead you should wait at least fifteen minutes after washing before applying the medication. If you were to apply it straight after washing you may find that if you have used a strong soap or some form of acne face wash that the medication may react against these things and cause a allergic reaction or irritation of the skin thus making the acne worse and not better. So wait at least fifteen minutes as this gives much better results and causes lesser side effects.
It pays to carefully read any literature that comes with your medication as some acne medication such as retinoids require at least half an hours wait after washing before applying. Also remember that you mustn't miss applications because like any ailment, illness or skin condition in order to treat it effectively you need to make sure you sustain any medication or applications in order for it to improve and get better. It is important to keep in mind that should you miss your application you will be reducing any chance you may have had of a cure substantially.
Having said that it is important to follow any instructions that may come with the medication to the letter. Unfortunately thinking that overusing the medication and applying more than you should in order to cure and clear up the acne faster is not going to work; in fact it is nothing but pure fallacy and you could end up doing more damage than good. Remember patience is the key to successfully clearing up and curing acne.
