Make Your Own Cornhole Board and Bags
A lot of people will buy the cornhole bags but take the time to make their own cornhole board. For those who do not want to do this, it is pretty easy to make the bags, as well. Denim, burlap, or another type of strong cloth was used originally to make the cornhole bags. These bags survived for a long time, and they were stuffed with corn which is where the cornhole name came from. The bags that can be bought today also last for a long time if they are of good quality. Despite this, there are some bags out there which are not good quality, and they quickly wear out with use. Making sure that a very strong cloth is used is highly important if a person decides to make cornhole bags instead of purchasing them. The strength of the cloth is not the only issue, though, because the bags must be flexible and soft enough to toss and move easily. Bags that are too stiff will be difficult to work with. Using soft and strong cloth is the most important issue when making cornhole bags.
The filling for the bags is another consideration. The corn that was used when the game was invented is not always todays best choice for a filler. If corn becomes wet it can get moldy and have other problems, as well. Once it has been used a lot, it will begin to break down. Another common filler material for these game bags is small beans, but these have much the same problem as corn. Today, most commercial cornhole sets use plastic pellets in their bags. The experience based on weight and feel is very similar to the traditional bags, but yet the filling material will not break down or deteriorate in any way. When a person builds his or her own cornhole set, the flexibility, weight, and size of the bags are the most significant issues to address. By building a cornhole set the proper way it will last longer and it will be enjoyed much more.
