Song lyrics are poetry in motion

There are probably millions of people out there who have music lyrics locked into their subconscious just waiting to be released. Usually, when we listen to one of our favourite music lyrics we say to ourselves that we wished we could make up words like that so naturally. What a lot of us don’t realise is that we have a natural gift inside of ourselves, we just don’t always know how to bring it out.

From experience, I have been able to hum or whistle a tune-my musical talents only go that far-but within an hour have forgotten what it was. Then I decided to carry a pocket tape recorder around with me and placed it at the side of my bed at night. I am now the proud composer of, what I believe to be, four very good tunes. The next stage is to put some song lyrics to them, some catchy words that blend in with the mood and rhythm of the beat. The final stage is to give them to someone who can write music so I can get a real objective feel of how good they are.

Music lyrics are usually borne from people with good imagination. We all have our fair share of that but what we don’t always have is the confidence to take it any further. It’s like learning a foreign language in a way. We get too embarrassed at speaking out loud to an audience in case we make a fool of ourselves. We all have to start somewhere of course. My particular way of opening up my imagination is to listen to as many variations of song lyrics and music lyrics by listening online. There is a huge selection and you can download many of them at a small cost. Most lyrics are usually inspired by other artists in this way and a new variant on an old theme is evolved. I find it totally rewarding when I hit on that new order of notes and put my own words to it-someday I may get my first hit!
