Murderdolls: Behind The Band

Murderdolls is Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison's side project, also (like Stone Sour) a band that existed before Slipknot. Surprisingly enough, Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls actually sounds like a metal version of Alice Cooper, crossed with some elements of Rob (or White, for that matter) Zombie. Originally formed as the Rejects over seven years ago, Murderdolls is Jordison and Tripp Eisen on guitars, Wednesday 13 on vocals, Eric Griffin on bass, and Ben Graves on drums. Joey couldn't be more excited at the prospect of his Slipknot fans lending Murderdolls an ear.

Murderdolls are kind of mindless, crazy Goth/punk rock. Murderdolls released their album 'beyond the valley of the murderdolls' on august 19th 2002. With a sound that can be best described as a skilfully blended mix of Reign in Blood era Slayer, and Shout at the Devil era Motley Crue, the Murderdolls are all about being dirty, decadent and in your face rock n roll. The band's debut album, Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls, was re-packaged with a bonus DVD and enjoyed a re-release through the American arm of Roadrunner Records in late 2003.

Joey Jordison says that he's looking forward to sharing his band with the world, and playing guitar lives. Joey is as good a guitar player as he is a drummer, and there is actually some guitar SOLOS and crazy bluesy heavy riffs mixed in with some flat out punk rock. The glam metal / horror punk band became very popular (in the United Kingdom and China in particular) before the group went on hiatus in order for Jordison to return to Slipknot. Since returning to Slipknot, Jordison recorded a fourth album with the group.

Scheduling the Murderdolls sessions and upcoming tour was never an issue with Slipknot either. With a name like the Murderdolls, you can tell these guys are not here to play radio friendly music, or please the masses. There are no plans to record a MURDERDOLLS album in the near future, Jordison tells Kerrang. Just one listen to the Murderdolls' debut album will be enough to have a legion of Slipknot fans chomping on their home-made boiler suits in confusion.
