Mood on the Set of 'Grey's Anatomy' is ''Much Better''

Grey’s Anatomy male lead, Patrick Dempsey assures that the negative energy from those issues has completely dissipated and that a brighter atmosphere has prevailed on the set this season.

"There's a much better mood on the set... I think [creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes] is really finding her way trying to balance out the two shows,” Dempsey said, referring to Grey’s and its freshman spin-off, Private Practice.  "We find her to be much more receptive this season.  She's looking for more feedback from people than she had in the past."

However, the actor, who plays Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy, does point out to a new dilemma which he hopes will be resolved once the Writers’ Guild walkout comes to close.

"I think we've become really stagnant in the relationship,” Dempsey lamented about his and Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith Grey.  “I'm tired of going back over and over and playing the same beat again.  And I think that's been the biggest conversation we've had -- we have to move forward with the dynamic between the two of them."

Dempsey also addressed rumors and speculations that he may be itching to leave the show.  He assured fans that he still has “a few more years” on his contract.

Finally, the Grey’s Anatomy star spoke about the overall sentiment on Grey’s Anatomy, regarding their former cast mate Kate Walsh’s booming Private Practice.

"I think it's a very awkward situation to find yourself in when someone is going off to a spin-off and it was a difficult year last year for obvious reasons,” Dempsey said.  “I think it's settled now.  We don't discuss it. It's one of those things, it's too close to discuss.  We're more concerned with where we're at with our show and are the characters growing."
