American Idol: Katharine McPhee Engaged

Enter full article text here.

You can also use the "html" button below to paAmerican Idol's very own Katharine McPhee, who was a runner up on the reality show's fifth season, is reportedly engaged to her boyfriend, Nick Cokas. McPhee was supposedly seen wearing an engagement ring during the last few days, and a People magazine source close to the singer/actress was quick to report that "[McPhee] is all smiles when she talks about the planning. It sounds like everything is going very smoothly." McPhee and Cokas have been dating publicly for around a year and even before they officially dated, rumors had already started circulating about them being together. Actor Nick Cokas is 42, while McPhee is just 23.

Surely the age difference might've caused some buzz, but McPhee clarified that there isn't any issue at all about their age difference. Katherine McPhee met Nick Cokas at a Los Angeles stage production of “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir” two years ago. Cokas later took McPhee to her American Idol audition in San Francisco , so either way, she is sort of indebted to Cokas for her successful career. For the past few months, rumors have been circulating that the two were engaged, and it has finally been proven to be true, only with an announcement that's not completely official.

In other American Idol alumni news, MTV.com reported that Katherine McPhee will be joining artists Ne-Yo, Vanessa Hudgens, Alan Jackson, Andrea Bocelli, Heather Headley and Colbie Caillat at the annual Christmas in Washington benefit show, which aims to raise funds for the National Children’s Medical Center. This is the fourth year for the event, which is hosted by Dr. Phil and Robin McGraw and is also attended by the President and First Lady and other Washington VIPs. A two-time Emmy award winning program for Musical Direction produced by 11-time Emmy award winner George Stevens, Jr., the show will air on TNT Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT).
