Award Winning Website Design

As a website designer you have to ensure that any website design you develop for your customer gives them a competitive advantage over their competition. In my opinion it is not difficult to achieve this if you as a professional website designer. Some of the important points that you need to concentrate on at the time of website development are:

1.     First Impression Counts: Home page is the most important part of the website design process. If a website design of the homepage is not professional, quick loading, neat and clean, most of the visitors will not go to any other page on your website. Also ensure that the font size is big enough for everyone to read without squinting.

2.     Finding the way around: A good website designer will ensure that any information on the website is easily accessible. You as a web designer have to realise that people will not spend too much time looking for information on your website. People’s patience with the web is diminishing and people expect to find information instantly.

3.     Is the website useful: In almost every article I publish, I always press on the issue of having a good content. It is important to have good content on your website. Content that is informative and provides useful information about you, your business and your product. A good web design will have a good navigational structure built around the content. Also make sure that you keep the content simple and easy to understand. Do not make it too technical.

4.     Simplicity is the Key: If you look at some of the companies that have received online success, you will find that they have achieved it through a simple yet attractive website design. Some of them would have received it by quality website application development and providing useful functionality to their customers. Hardly any successful online business use flash animations or heavy graphics. Most of them would have achieved it through good navigational techniques and useful content. Navigation and content are important part of successful website design.

5.     Are you Contactable: Your website should make it easy for your customers to contact you. You should ensure that your contact details are readily available on your website. If you use online forms, do not try to gather too much information. Chances are many consumers will need more information to make a purchase decision than is available on your website. By making it easy for them to contact you, you are helping them to make a decision when they are thinking about making that purchase.

6.     What can I Do: As a website developer you have to think of ways to engage the customer with your Website. Website application development can help you achieve this. For example, if you are a software developer, you can provide visitors with the ability to register to download demo version of your software. Other website application examples will involve newsletter sign-ups, discussion forums, shopping cart etc.
