A Dozen Ways to Lure Search Engines
There are millions of websites competing these days. In fact, your website is just one dot out of millions. How are you going to get the edge?
To lure search engines to your advantage is one of the goals of website owners. To do so may land your web pages on the elusive search engine’s first page. And the domino effect continues. To be on the first page means a great opportunity to market your products and services. It spells having a lucrative site.
Every owner of the site must be knowledgeable and resourceful to know and find ways to keep his website flourishing and coping with the changes of the modern web design.
Here are some of the ways to make your website tempting to search engines:
1. Meta tags of the same words must not be used more than thrice. Bear in mind that most engines are case sensitive so be cautious of repetition.
2. If possible, use your keywords in your links.
3. Proximity in keywords is a must. The closer they are to one another, better the chances of finding them. You can also place them at the top of the page.
4. Keywords found in your meta tags must be placed in the contents. In order for your keywords to be considered by search engines, said keywords must appear both in the meta tags and the body of the page.
5. Put your keywords in your title, meta description, meta keywords, Alt tags and body tags. You can use five of these keywords in your body tag. Repetition of keywords more than five times results to spamming. If this happens, chances are, you are at risk of being kicked out of the engine.
6. A unique keyword that is not used by your competitors can be your edge in climbing the top page. Nonetheless, be sure that the keyword is still connected to your site and your topic. Also, make sure that it is specific.
7. Another instance of spamming is when you use texts having the same color as your background. This thing should be avoided not only does it ruin the form and function of the site but it also gives the search engines the reason to kick you out.
8. One thing that annoys search engines is submissions of a page more than twice a day.
9. Consider making your web design search-engine friendly so as to open a doorway welcoming search engines.
10. Link only to good sites. Symbiotic relationship is progressive. Together you boost each other’s web development and ranking potentials.
11. Be sure to update some of your pages once a month.
12. Avoid using fast meta refresh pages. Simply because some search engines are annoyed by them.
