The Power of Print Advertisement for the Online Business

So you're starting up an online business. The benefits of running a business online are certainly clear to those without a massive start up budget to work with. Removing the cost of renting out a building coupled with potentially hiring other people to work in your store is a good way for a person to own their own business on a reasonable budget.

An important topic of note is advertising. Many people feel that if they're going to be running a business online they should devote the majority of their advertising budget to online content. Why advertise in a newspaper when I could just post a banner, many might think to themselves.

The reason is the audience you're reaching. I'm not preaching for an end to Internet marketing, because it is certainly a strategy that works. The question is whether or not a company should do away with all in print marketing as well.

The use of color printing in designing a variety of different hard copy advertising is a very effective strategy for any kind of business, whether it's based online or in a building.

When radio became a dominant source of entertainment, and a valuable way of getting out a message, advertising immediately popped up. The same is true for television, which has become a prominent modern form of advertising.

Yet neither of these changes put an end to the flyer, the newspaper advertisement, or the magazine ads. Marketing with color printing is just as powerful of a tool today as it was a hundred years ago. The Internet is not likely to destroy it anymore than commercials did.

There's something to be said for the ability to hold the actual ad in your hands. No other form of marketing is able to achieve this. You can grab a person’s attentions in ways a banner online isn't going to be able to.

Print advertising has the ability to be more unique than what the Internet can provide. As listed above, flyers, coupons, catalogues, brochures, and booklets all offer a unique style of advertising that the Internet fails to compete with.

Of course, with any of these always have your website address clearly shown. People reading magazines are going to be just as open to logging on to the Internet in order to find a good deal as those who are already at a computer.

In the end a person should use every kind of marketing allotted to them. Different styles of advertising appeal to different kinds of people. There is no one perfect kind of advertising that will appeal to all people in all areas.

Spreading out your advertising over different medias grants you the ability to target the most people possible. Just because your business is based online, don't let that fool you into thinking you don't have other forms of marketing open to you. Take advantage of everything, and your profits will reflect your efforts.
