SEO: Get better ranking for your Website or Blog by submitting Articles

After I had set up my new Blog three weeks ago I verified its visibility in Google, Yahoo and MSN. At that moment I had one visit average per day. I noticed that my Blogs' Search Engine position was very very bad. That is normal when you introduce a new Website or Blog to the different search engines.

To improve overall visibility there are several things one should do:

Submit your Site or Blog to the three “big ones" – Google, Yahoo and MSN
You can do this using www.google.com/addurl for a Google submission and  www.beta.search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx to submit to MSN and finally https://login.yahoo.com/config/login_verify2?.src=siteex&.intl=us&.done=http2F2Fsubmit to get listed with Yahoo (Yahoo requires membership).

add a Sitemap to Google, Yahoo and MSN

to add a Sitemap to Google you have to sign up for a Google Account and then go to https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/siteoverview?hl=en to submit your URL. Once that is done you can add a Sitemap. To create a sitemap you can use an online Sitemap Service like www.xml-sitemaps.com/ which is free when you have less than 500 urls, or you can download the GSiteCrawler at http://gsitecrawler.com/en/download/

This program is one of the most powerful ones I have found on the Web for free until today. Yahoo Sitemap submission is done by submitting your Sitemap to http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/

MSN is somewhat different. You will have to Ping their service. Use this URL to ping moreover.com database:
http://api.moreover.com/ping?u=http://yourdomain/yoursitemap.xml(you’ll have to create and upload the sitemap to your server via FTP.
Submit your Site to as many free Directories as you can. To do this you can use a program called “Directory Submitter"download here. This program keeps track of all submissions done by you, thus doing the big job. It has about 350 directories listed.
Write comments in Blogs you like, leaving your URL.
I’ve done all this but I wanted to keep improving my position. So I started investigating what else could be done. And then I thought about the Article Directories. There must be hundreds of them out there. And people have the habit to go there to get content for their Websites. This is legal. You can copy an article from the Directory and publish it on your Site if you keep the Authors references and links intact.
The good thing about this copying of an article is that your URL is getting referenced more and more without you having to do anything else but wait.

To submit an Article to the most important Article Directories you can use “ArtilceSubmitter", download. Much like the DirectorySubmitter this program has a large database of the most important Article Directories and keeps track of your submissions. Further you can edit username and password for each Directory thus not having to type it over and over when you go back to submit another article. It allows for html and plain text articles to be submitted. This is a great help if you have a lot of articles you like to submit.

Let me give you one example on how good this system works. I’ve submitted one article to 3 directories and within 3 weeks I found 25 copies all over the internet. If you write really good articles with exclusive content this number will surely multiply.

I wish you good luck with your Search Engine Optimization and if you have a moment, please stop by and visit My Blog World where I have many more interesting posts about SEO and many many other subjects.
