It is where all details are registered and made available for all. Similarly, on the web, there are what is called article directory available. This is where businesses send their articles, when adopting the article marketing strategy.

The only way to get noticed, and let people of your existence is through these directories that are available to all. If you were to wander about on the net, looking for a particular topic, you will see article directory related to that subject coming up. This is a hub for all articles related to that topic. From there, you can pick out the one closest to your search and take it from there. It could be on any category, such as finance, cooking, health, home depot, and so on.

However, there are some criteria to watch out for while seeking an article directory to submit your articles to.

How long has the article directory been around? Have they been providing these services for over 5-7years or are they new and in this line of operation since recently only? This is a question you need to ask, for which answers are available at the directory itself. If you were to explore the directory and find very few submissions, then it is likely to be new.  The chances of getting noticed might be very limited and could take time.

Most of the article directory sites have details regarding the person who is running it, and is in charge. By surfing around the site, in a matter of minutes you must be able to determine this. If you are, then it could be a sham or something might be fishy. Stay away from such sites, and look for other better directories.

The sign of a good directory is to have nearly 1000 authors listed in their collection. This means, they have a good amount of business, and many have signed up with them. For sites where the author’s list is very minimal, they are probably just breaking ground. For a new business like yours, you will need assistance from a well-established article directory to act as a messenger for your operations.

Double check on whether the directories are manually operated or automatic. This will give you inputs on how the system works and what kind of communication method they follow.

Do they send out emails and updates regularly, or do you have to go to the site to get updates? Automatic updates will work better, since you save time and can keep track of how your articles are faring

Have you seen an increase in traffic on your site ever since submitting articles to the directories? Or is the traffic same as it was earlier? This is a yardstick to understand effectiveness of the article directory.
