The Process of starting your own online business

If you have ever thought you would like to start an online business,

but didn't know how to go about it, what the advantages were, or

what services to look for, then I think you are missing the boat on what is now a revolution in business.

Fading away are the days of the storefront. People are finding it harder and harder to venture past their living rooms to get anything less than the essential. What that means is that the internet is the super power market place.

Everything under the sun can be bought and sold on the internet. If you are in the right business, using the right strategies, you can make a fortune. How can we be sure of this? Well, let's take a look at the advantages:

For starters, your start up expenses are minimal, and since having a computer, an internet service provider (ISP), and an email address have become as essential as food and water, half of your expenses are already met. Of course you may have to upgrage your ISP, pay a web host, buy a domain name, and maybe pay for some advertising.

The internet also provides you with international exposure. That is something those little "mom and pop" stores never got. Along with that exposure comes a lot of varied tastes, opinions, wants, and desires. The market is simply wide open.

Another benefit is being able to sit at home and work. No more working 9-5 in a cramped office space. Of course this means you have to be disciplined enough to avoid the temptation of wasting away the hours watching reruns of

"CSI" or "The Sopranos". You have to stay focused.

Obviously, the benefits to running your own business online are numerous, but the important question is this: What kind of business are you going to have?

Are you going to develop an online store? Where customers can buy their favorite products? Ahhh...but in that case you must deal with having to ship those products. More work for you.

The answer, I guess, would lie in affiliate marketing. Not in those fraudulent MLM programs that are nothing more than elaborate pyramid schemes

(my apologies to the legitimate MLMers out there...it's not your fault that some nit wits ruined your reputation.

Affiliate marketing basically amounts to you using your website as a virtual billboard. You pimp products on your site and make a commission off of the sales that originate from your site. The hardest thing you do is to create interesting content, that attracts visitors, sign up with all of the merchant affiliates that you can, and strategically place advertisements all over your site.

It sounds like a lot of work, and it really is at first, but once you get up and running it can be quite lucrative. Getting started is the hard part.

Oh...I almost forgot another benefit...the internet NEVER closes, so that means that your store (website) never closes either, even when you sleep.
