Some question as to the economy
Be financially Happy I agree, this is a strange heading for an article that shows theterrible situation in many facets of the American economy. The United States of America has stood for supreme stability in it's reserves and it's ability to weather the many storms arising out of the world's overall performance. We have however, many cracks appearing in the developmentsover the last few years. To run a business of any kind we know each segment of the business has to show a profit, if you question the American overall performance it is difficult to find even one thing that is producing a profit. Yes, I agree, the Oil Industry is making one great big profit, however, where is that profit coming from. How long can the Tax Payers survive this tremendous pressure of having to pay these astronomical prices. Here are one or two items the US taxpayers are having to put up with in the last little while.Due to recent changes in the USA economy that I'm sure most of you are aware of like jobs being lost, downsized, and outsourced, while the cost of groceriesand other necessary goods and services keep rising almostdaily, Credit Card companies are raising their ratesslowly for even those who pay their cards on time so thatwe can help pay the bills for those who are not able topay their credit card bills. That people's homes are being foreclosed on at an astoundingrate that has never been seen before. Why is this happening? I read an article a few days ago, just how easy it has been to be able to get a 100% loan on a home. This applicant requesting a loan, was asked, where he worked, he answered that he did not have one. He was then asked if he was looking for a job. Yes, well that's good enough you are looking. He qualified. At least one of the biggest home loan companies in thecountry is having difficulties because of the frighteningnumber of foreclosures, and, that some states are looking at the possibility of helping those who got in over their head by rewriting home loans because the current economy could collapse if the foreclosure rate gets too high.If they decide to help these people out, who do you believe will be paying extra taxes..This is all scary, I'm not a scare monger by any means, but after watching 60 minutes on Sunday, I ask myself where is it all going to stop?I'm talking about the Coastguard scandal.A promotional video for the biggest project the Coast Guard had ever taken on looked impressive enough: "Deepwater" would include 91 new ships and 124 smaller boats, plus new planes and helicopters. But five years into the program, the Coast Guard has fewer boats and ships now than it did before it started. Congressman Elijah Cummings, chairman of the Coast Guard oversight subcommittee calls the program, "a mess." "Here it goes to the national security of this country," Rep. Cummings says. "That's serious business. Particularly after 9/11. And so, you know, it pains me. It really does." Asked if he thinks the Coast Guard in worse shape now than it was before it began Deepwater, the congressman tells Kroft, "They say they're not. But I think they are." You can begin with the fact that the Coast Guard spent nearly $100 million to ruin eight patrol boats. The plan was to take the aging workhorses of the fleet, the 110-foot Island Class patrol boats, and lengthen them by 13 feet, adding a launch ramp for small inflatable boats and expanding the superstructure. But something went drastically wrong at the Bollinger Shipyard near New Orleans, where the first eight boats were extended. "What you see is a lot of buckling. In the floor. And spaces where you know something is bending that shouldn't be bending in other words it should be flat," Cummings recalls. After just a few weeks on the water, all eight boats experienced severe structural problems and had to be pulled out of service. They are currently tied up at a pier at the Coast Guard's Baltimore yard waiting to be decommissioned. Their problems, the Coast Guard says, are too serious to be fixed. The report goes on, and on with information that is so devastating that you wonder just how much this is going to cost the Tax Payer. We must remember, we have 9,000 miles of coastline to protect and we just Have to wonder how it will all turn out.I realize I have not even touch the Iraq situation, however we are all aware of that. We are spending so much it is another alarming situation. It is my opinion, in order to have a comfortable life in the years ahead for our family, it is imperative we acquire money in other ways other than our day job. One has to look for alternative methods to assist our living expenses. One alternative is do what many thousands of people are doing, and that is beginning a business from home. So many people have made that decision.Make a decision, to at least take a look around at the many opportunitiesand the many benefits working from home can give you.
